Membership

Anyone who is or was employed for, by or at an EU institution, body, office, agency or European School, may become an ordinary individual member of Egalite, as may the members of their household.

Please note that as of April 2026 we will distinguish between ordinary individual members and eligible members. Eligible members have the right to attend the General Assembly and vote; the right to nominate themselves to the Board; and to vote for the Board. Eligible members are:

“members who, on the day of the Assembly meeting, on the day the elections open, or at the time of their nomination, are in active employment by, for, or at, an EU institution, body, office, agency or European School or are in receipt of a retirement or invalidity pension from such institution, body, office, agency or European School.”

Membership is free for the current year (2026).

To become a member of Egalité, please fill in the form below. The email address that you put on this form will be used by Egalite to communicate with you. If you use a personal email address, we will contact you each year to see whether you are an eligible member.

Please choose the EU institution where you currently work. If you are retired, please choose the EU institution where you last worked. If you are a family member of a staff member of the EU institutions, please choose the EU institution where your family member works.

The Association, within all the EU institutions, bodies, offices and agencies, shall aim to:
a. internally represent Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Intersex and Queer (LGBTIQ) staff and their families, as well as externally, if necessary;
b. combat any form of discrimination, in particular, based on sexual orientation and gender identity, gender expression and sex characteristics;
c. promote an inclusive and diverse workplace and, within that context, promote the rights of LGBTIQ people ;
d. organise social, cultural and educational events and activities;
e. offer assistance to LGBTIQ staff.
