Conference: Non-discrimination and development: An agenda for change

On Friday 1st June the European Commission and Michael Cashman are co-hosting a high-level conference Non-discrimination and development: An agenda for change (Final Programme (PDF 70KB)).

The event will open at 8.30am for registration at the European Commission, Charlemagne building, 170 rue de la Loi, 1000 Brussels. To attend send an e-mail to EUROPEAID-B3@ec.europa.eu with “Non-discrimination event” in the subject, including the name of your organisation and the full name of all your representatives.

List of speakers includes

  • Navanethem Pillay (UN High Commissioner for Human Rights),
  • Youssou N’Dour (Senegalese Minister for Tourism and Culture),
  • Louise Mushikiwabo (Rwandan Minister for Foreign Affairs)

and other high-level speakers.
The aim of this event is to engage in a public dialogue on non-discrimination as a positive element for a more inclusive and effective development process. By bringing together voices from the institutional world, the private sector and civil society, we should try to focus on the future: how we can ensure that development policy can help end all kinds of discrimination? Positive examples will be projected to inspire and encourage. The debate will be an occasion to exchange freely without institutional constraints towards a better understanding and promotion of non-discrimination as not only a policy, but a stance to life and universal value.
